Ride Buddy

Ride Buddy runs a foreground monitoring service that tracks GPS and phone sensor data for the duration of a ride.

Its crash detection pipeline works in three stages: an acceleration spike triggers a check, GPS and gyroscope data corroborate the event, and a period of stillness or chaotic motion confirms it before anything is sent.

When a likely crash is confirmed, Ride Buddy shows a countdown screen — "Possible Crash Detected" — that lets you cancel with "I'm OK" before it automatically sends SMS alerts with your location to your emergency contacts.

Every ride is also logged as a GPX track — the widely-supported GPS exchange format — so ride history can be opened in other mapping tools, with configurable retention (10, 25, 50, 100, or unlimited rides).
